The contractor will be working on side street connections to the new line on King Street over the next several weeks. All water services between Walnut Bottom Road and Queen Street (east of Queen) have been reconnected. The contractor will continue with water service reconnections between Queen and Washington Streets next week. Arrangements for commercial establishments will be made individuallyThe contractor will continue working Monday through Thursday with Friday as a rain out day. Please be cautious in not parking in the No Parking areas; doing so interferes with work progress and may result in your vehicle being towed. We thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work towards completing our water system improvements. ****UPDATE***** February 15, 2020 2/17/2020 – No digging. The contractor will repair ditch line if paving materials are available. 2/18 – 2/20 Main line work from Earl Street west to the bridge 2/18 – 2/20 Reconnect water service laterals from Hollar Avenue to Walnut Bottom Road – south side (even numbers) Week of 2/24/20 – Start side street tie ins beginning at Hollar Avenue and King Street on 2/25/2020 - Start testing of next segment (King Street between Queen and Washington) in preparation for water service lateral reconnection. Service lateral reconnections continue from 424 East King Street towards Sherman Avenue. ****UPDATE**** January 24, 2020 The contractor will continue main line installation from Penn Street west for the next 2 – 3 weeks. Water service laterals will continue to be reconnected on the south side (even numbered) from Queen Street to Walnut Bottom Road. In order to reconnect the service laterals on this side of King Street, it is necessary to take traffic to single lane/alternating lanes. This may result in delays; please use alternate streets when possible. We appreciate your patience and cooperation. ****UPDATE**** January 16, 2020 Monday, January 20th, 2020. Up to this time, the contractor has been working on the north side (odd numbered) of King Street installing the main line and reconnecting service laterals. On Monday, they will start to reconnect the laterals on the south side (even numbered) of King Street beginning at 400 East King (corner of S.Queen/King) and proceed towards Walnut Bottom Road. In order to do this they will need to excavate on both sides of the street, while maneuvering equipment and personnel. This will take the street down to one lane/alternating traffic. Parking lanes on both sides of the street will be excavated and equipment is expected to be in the eastbound lane. Since this is the “long” side of lateral excavation I expect only 2 – 3 services a day (if all goes well), meaning this traffic pattern could be in place for the next 4 -5 weeks. The contractor works M-TH from 7am to 4 pm. The affected area will shift as progress is made. Moving forward throughout the winter months, WEATHER PERMITTED. ****Update 1/9/2020**** The contractor will continue with water service lateral reconnections along the north (odd side) side of King Street to Queen Street. Laterals will then be reconnected on the south side (even) side from Walnut Bottom to Queen Street. Construction of the water main will continue in the west end; once this section has been completed the contractor will relocate to the east end and continue with water main construction from just east of Prince Street towards the center of town. We ask your cooperation and awareness of the No Parking signs; normal workdays are Monday through Thursday with Friday as a weather make up day. Thank you for your cooperation and patience. **** Update**** “The next phase of the new water main project is about to begin. The house service connections typically should take 20 – 30 minutes of water interruption . Someone will knock on your door prior to the connection/water off. We now anticipate the reconnection of water service laterals to begin on or around Wednesday, December 11th, 2019 or Thursday, December 12, 2019. Water service lateral reconnection will commence at Advanced Auto Parts at the east end of the project. Reconnections will proceed with the properties located on the north side of King Street (odd numbered properties) to the intersection of King Street and Queen Street. We are working to notify property owners of our schedule for reconnection as progress occurs. We do not anticipate the need to enter any properties; water service will be temporarily turned off (20 minutes or so) when the actual and physically connection is made. Once the water is turned back on, you may notice air (bubbles/cloudiness) in the water as air is purged from this new line. We anticipate that construction may cease during the week of 12-23-2019 through 12-27-2019, resuming 12/30/2019. This will be confirmed as we get closer to this time.
